  1. I’m not sure if you are the folks to ask but I’m guessing you can point me in the right direction. I am looking into traveling the inland waterway from end to end (west to east).
I know that it’s roughly 40 miles but I’m curious as to how long it will take. I want to take my time and see some of the towns along the route.
Is there a map that shows details of the route? Is the route well marked? Are there fees for the two locks? Can you go from Conway to Cheboygan without portaging? Is there any information packets /booklets available about this? This is the type of information that I’m looking for. Something that will help me put together an itinerary.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

  2. Date: May 16, 2017
    Time: 2-4 pm
Where: Gallimore Boarding House, 404 Lake Street Roscommon, MI

    Light Refreshments.

    Speakers:

    Jim Renn, Huron Forest Archaeologist
    Hillary Pine, Hartwick Pines
Howard Taylor, Wellington Farm (maybe music too?)

Purpose: To gather representatives from Northeast Michigan Historical related organizations/site to discuss mutual areas of interests. Primary purpose would be to form a mini chamber of commerce for our organizations in our somewhat neglected part of the state. Our goal is to produce an area pamphlet and map, similar to what the Historical Museums of Northwest Michigan puts out.

No RSVP needed…just please come. Bring anyone else interested. The RAHS has plenty of (heated or A/C) space.

Please let me know if you have any questions,

    Regards,

  3. this past weekend my family and I vacationed in indian river and visited the chamber of commerce there. After talking to Debbie about a vintage burt/mullett lake map that was up on the wall, i wanted to purchase a print. Debbie stated she would have to contact your office about prints. We would love to get a print if possible. please let me know if this is something you can do.

  4. I am looking for a copy of…….”In the wake of the Topinabee” by Arline M. Browne. Do you know if available OR has there been a re-print I can obtain ??

  5. I’m looking for historical information for Indian River. My great grandparents had a resturant across from the Indian River resturant called The Dutch Mill. It was to the right of the train depot. My great grandmother served every service man that went through town for free..some times there would be one on the couch in the morning because they missed their train. This would have been 1940’s. I’m looking for any pictures or info if someone can point me in the right direction please. Thanks!
